Busy Four Days for LM Nats

The next four days are going to be busy ones for all concerned for the 2009 Australian Late Model Nationals. If you’re a fan it all starts tomorrow night when a number of the cars practice prior to this two night extravaganza of sedan action.

Tomorrow night is when all the fans can get their first glimpse of Jeep Van Wormer. This hard charging American gets to try out the Ultratune/Carahaul/Valvoline #15 Mastersbilt for the first time at the Perth Motorplex practice session, part of the Whoop Ass Wednesday program held at the Kwinana Beach facility.

The next night see’s the all important Calcutta to be held at the Market City Tavern in Canning Vale. Doors open from 6pm and tickets are on sale for only $5 a piece. It’s a great way for all the fans to mingle with all the drivers, including the likes of defending champion Brad Ludlow, fellow West Aussie Brad Blake, The Vosbergen’s, New South Welshmen Nathan Disney and Darryl Grimson and the American pair of Doug Drown and Jeep Van Wormer. Get to see the stars of the thundering Late Models in the relaxed and beautiful surroundings and grab a chat or an autograph, and make a bid for your favorite star before the action starts on the track the next evening.

That’s right; Friday night is when it all starts up for the serious side of this weekend as part of the Auto Trader Fast Friday program. Spectator gates open from 5pm so be sure to get there early as can to catch the time trials and the four action packed heats full of plenty of action.

The final night on the Saturday sees the action continue with the final two heats, and A & B dash, a last chance B Main and the all important 30 lap A main to decide this years Australian National Champion. Gates open for spectators at 4.30 and you will be guaranteed a night of brilliant sedan racing.

It will be a lung buster of a weekend, and even though speedway has had a number of big shows in recent weeks, you only be letting yourself down if you miss this one, the eighth running of the Australian Late Model Championships.
