BEN LUDLOW WINS ROUND 3 R2C COMPETITION FILTERS PRO-DIRT SERIES – KWINANA 6TH NOVEMBER 2010.

Ben Ludlow (#9 Di Candilo Steel City GRT) came out triumphant in the 3rd round of the West Australian Late Model Series on Saturday night on a rough and hooky Kwinana surface.  The veteran of WA sedan racing was followed home by Craig Vosbergen(#8 World Wide Construction Machinery Rocket) & Jay Cardy( #52 BBT Steel Car-d-car).  Racing was dominated earlier in the feature by Ben’s Son Brad (#92 D Candilo Steel City GRT) before the air vacated his right front tire.  Brad battled on before the officials motioned him infield. 4th place was Bunbury’s Brad Blake (#0  Blake Auto Centre Rocket) and the top 5 rounded out by Ryan Halliday (#99 GRT)

“Unfortunately it destroyed the gear box and there is oil pouring out the back of it,” Ludlow said.  “We are pretty happy with the result.”
Vosbergen said they were slowing getting back up there.  “I am not going to have a go at the track tonight…old Ben is having a great run tonight,” Vosbergen said.  “It seems like the more it smokes, the better it goes.”
Cardy was all smiles with his third.  “That was sensational…I am really happy to be back on the pace and race in the Michael Figliomeni special night.”

The racing in the heats was fast and furious with the tricky surface lending itself to a bit of paint swapping between the cars however there was no terminal damage except for Terry Chamberlain’s # 3 Rocket who collected the turn 4 wall in the 2nd heat and was unable to continue for the rest of the evening.  Heat winners were Brad Ludlow & Brad Blake.
