The Racin Tyres Pro Dirt Series for Late Models travelled to the Collie Speedway last Saturday night in front of a stellar crowd. The town was looking forward to seeing the big boys in action for what looked like an exciting race meeting.

The track started the evening in perfect condition, ideal for the Late Models but the rain came and put an end to any hopes of an early start. Some fancy track grading and a lot of wheel packing by the Late Model drivers brought the track around to where they could hot lap even though it was in less than ideal conditions.

By Heat 1 the track was back to its best,  Warren Oldfield got off to a good start leading the first lap only to brought to a halt by the caution lights coming  on for contact between Bert Vosbergen and Matt Goodlad. Bert was sent to the ROF for being the primary  cause. The race continued at a frantic pace with Jamie Oldfield pressing his brother for the lead, Warren held the lead to take the win.  Finishing Positions - 15, 51, 99, 4, 30, 18, 25

Heat 2 promised to provide the same close racing seen in Heat 1 but a bad start caused the caution to be shown as the drivers entered the back straight, The drivers failed to see the caution lights and several continued to race under the yellows, only to pay the ultimate penalty. As the drivers came round to complete one lap, Jay Cardy slowed for the caution coming out of turn 4, but the O-show was still on the power, running into the rear of Cardy.

The cars of Ben Ludlow and Jac Dolmans were the ones to suffer most, both were out for the night with major chassis damage. Both drivers clearly, showing their frustration. The race went green the second time, but Cardy pulled to the infield with damaged caused from the first lap incident. With 3 of the main contenders out of the race it was Brad Blake that took the lead and the win. Finishing Positions - 0, 7, 91, 75,

Heat 3 was a tough one going from Green to the Chequered flag without incident. Each competitor was making a good contest, letting everyone know that the final was going to be a hard fought battle. Jamie Oldfield in car 51 took the honours from Mark Duncombe and Ryan Halliday, both drivers putting on a good display. Finishing Positions - 51, 7, 99, 15, 91, 18, 75

Heat 4 gave the stewards quite a dilemma. With cars 46 & 9 out for the night, Brad Blake moved forward on the grid taking him from ROF to his second pole for the night. Unfortunately the rules gave the Stewards no choice but to move him forward. Blake got off to a good start, only for the yellow light to come on, as Bert Vosbergen and Mark Matthews tried to occupy the same piece of track.  Bert in car 4 slammed into the wall coming out of turn two, after making several passes on the outside of turn 1. That was to be the end of the night for Car 4 with too much damage to continue for the night. Brad Blake took the lead on the green light, only for another caution in lap two, with Simon McNab in the 25 car spinning out. On the green light Blake in the O-show took the lead again comfortably taking the win. Finishing Positions - 0, 30, 01, 25

A Dash Top 6   With Jamie Oldfield and Brad Blake off the front, his was going to be fast race, and that it was. Jamie in Car 51 got the jump on the 0-show, only to run wide and let Brad slip past coming out of turn 2. Jamie threw everything he could at the O-show but could not get past as the rest of the field were putting on a good display. Brad Blake went on to take out the win and the pole position for the feature. Finishing Positions - 0, 51, 15, 30, 99, 7

All cars got off to a good start, with Jamie Oldfield getting the jump over Brad Blake, this time holding him off to lead the field. In turn 3, Brad spun off the track allowing Warren Oldfield, Mark Matthews, Mark Duncombe, Ryan Halliday and Michael Holmes to pass him before he could re enter on the main straight. The racing continued until Brad Blake and Michael Holmes came together resulting in Michael’s No 91 retiring damaged and Brad being sent rear of field. Jamie Oldfield in the 51 car continued to lead the race for the next 15 laps when Mark Matthews in car 30 spins after having contact with Brad Blake in car 0.

The Chief Steward gave the O-show the benefit of the doubt, and puts both cars back into original positions. The race continued with Warren Oldfield laying down a solid challenge to Brother Jamie but the real battle was being held in the midfield with Matt Goodlad, Mark Duncombe, Mark Matthews and Ryan Halliday swapping position throughout the race. It was good to see Ryan coming to grips with the new setup on his car and Matt Goodlad settling down to put in some very smooth laps.

The next caution came on lap 26 as car 99 spun and Brad Blake was amid the controversy firstly being sent ROF, then being reinstated  back to his position after arguing his point to the Stewards. The race continued, with Warren Oldfield in car 15 slowing with left front suspension failure allowing the cars of Brad Blake and Matt Goodlad to pass. Jamie Oldfield was a fitting winner in Car 51 takes the win after successfully leading the race from start to finish.
