LMRA Eager For Round Ten Of R2C Series
After the frustration of missing out on a nights racing at the recent running of the R2C Competition Pro Dirt Series round in Kalgoorlie, all the teams are eager to get some laps in at this weekends round at the Perth Motorplex.
A quality field has nominated for the upcoming round with seventeen entries having been submitted, and there will be plenty of challengers for the win.
It will be the first event in Western Australia that will see the divisions newly crowned Australian Champion Brad Blake compete after claiming the crown. Blake (Blake Auto Centre #0 Rocket) has been in terrific form since the end of December having won three of the last four event he started and will head in to this weekends round as the favourite to take another win.
Taking those wins has improved his position in the series and he now only sits two points behind current leader Craig Vosbergen. These two second generation racers have had a severe rivalry over the last few years, and Vosbergen would love nothing better than to lead Blake home and hopefully take his first win of the year in his WCM/Ductworks/Valvoline #8 Rocket.
But it wont be just a case of these two racing for the win as there is plenty of others who could stake their claim for a win.
‘Captain Consistency’ Jay Cardy is another, like Vosbergen, who hasn’t claimed a win and would love nothing more than to greet the chequered flag this weekend in his BBT Steel/TL Dozing #52 Cardy Chassis. With a new powerplant bolted in to his machine (reputedly with 916hp) that will suit the high banks at Kwinana, he will certainly be one to watch.
Mark Matthews (RACIN Tyres & Accessories/Tilco Engineering #30 Rocket) and Matt Goodlad (Diverse Contracting/JRH Signs #18 Rocket) are another two who are knocking on the door as well, as their continued improvement this year has made plenty of people take notice.
You can also throw in to the mix past winners from this season with the likes of Brad and Ben Ludlow in their matching DiCandilo Steel City/Lucas Oil Products GRT chassis projectiles. Brad is the only multiple R2C round winner this summer and Ben has been in contention on more than one occasion, so if everything falls their way who knows what can happen.
Lee Watt (Katachana Beef/GT Brake & Clutch #10 Rayburn), Michael Holmes (OzMine Drill Consumables/Holmes & Associates #91 Rocket) and Ryan Halliday (Colonial Freightlines/Stirling Low Loaders #99 GRT) would all be considered chances with the speed they have show in recent events.
There will be plenty of others too, including Willy Powell and Daniel Green who have nominated for their first events of the summer.
So if it hard, fast side by side sedan action your craving, make sure you are at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night as Western Australia’s best sedan pilots fight it out in round 10 of the R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series.
