‘King of the Ring’ Late Models to rev up Albany
Late Model Sedans return to Albany Speedway Saturday night November 26, for the annual ‘King of the Ring’ event.
The ‘King of the Ring’ has developed into one of the most sort after prizes on the R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series Schedule, and is expected to feature action of the highest calibre.
The Albany Speedway Club has been extremely busy in the off season, with some major improvements at the Atwell Park venue. Not only have they rebuilt the existing club room, a new track surface has been laid with more banking.
Atwell Park has attracted a hot line-up of Late Model competitors who are all looking forward to competing in their powerful machines on the new track surface. The nominations include the current Australian Champion Brad Blake, last year’s winner of the event Craig Vosbergen, and the new WA State Champion Warren Oldfield.
Warren, and his brother Jamie, have won three out of the four R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series Rounds contested thus far this season, with Vosbergen winning the other.
Michael Holmes is really looking forward to Albany, knowing his car is in great shape after coming away with a heat win at the state title.
Jay Cardy and Brad Blake have both finished in the top three in rounds this series, and are eager to go the extra step and take a win.
There is no shortage of great drivers who will compete for the honour of being crowned ‘King of the Ring’, with competitors like Jason Moyle, Koran Atkinson, and the Nylander brothers Matt and David, all expected to be in contention.
Competitors will have free posters and giveaways for spectators, and merchandise for sale, including T-shirts, Diecast Late Models, Stubby Holders, Colouring Books, and many of other items that will be available at the track.
The brute power of the V8 Late Models, combined with the new track surface and high banking , means Albany race fans can expect a fast pace, and some of the best action served up on the west coast this season.
Be sure to get your backside trackside!
