Ben Takes The Final, But Marc Wins The Points. Ben Ludlow might have finished first during the final but the Perth Motorplex scorecard has Marc Giancola as the winner of the two night battle royale. Marc has taken the two night battle for Dirt Late Models at Kwinana Beach over the WWS weekend. And he did it in fine style, consistently finishing towards the front of the pack and finishing each race, scoring two wins, One second and three fourth place finishes over the two nights of competition. It was Giancola’s first win of the season and he will be looking forward to a few more in his Statewide Access/Northlands Transport #43. “Its good to play with one of these” referring to his Late Model after the win “I’ve got to thank my family, team and sponsors for all their help as I couldn’t be out here each week with out them.” He didn’t have it his own way either as a number of others strutted their stuff on the wide expanses of the Kwinana clay way. Veteran Ben Ludlow (DiCandilo Steel City/Castrol #2) showed he is still a force out on the track. He came away from the weekend with five finishes in the top 5, including the all important 20 lap final on night two. The only blemish against his name was an eleventh place finish during night one. This would cost him dearly and leave him third on points for the weekend. After some torrid battles Warren Oldfield driving the DVF Plumbing & Gas/Carahaul #15 continued to impress as he has done all season. Oldfield has been the most consistent performer all year and showed it again over the two nights, finishing no race lower than sixth, and earning him a fine second place in the weekend points battle. Another to impress was youngster Jay Cardy in the family owned BBT Steel/T.L. Dozing #52. He showed promise last time out, but was on fire over this recent weekend and giving it to the more fancied and experience racers over the two nights. He impressed many people with a fantastic fourth in the point’s battle. Bunburys favorite son Brad Blake earned a couple of fine wins, but a no-show for the ‘O-Show’ during the second night after damage in the first race of night two hit the Blake Auto Centre/United Finance #0 car hard in the points battle for the two nights. For some they just didn’t get the weekend they wanted. Australian Title holder Brad Ludlow (Minetec Communications/DiCandilo Steel City #1) and Ryan Halliday in the Halliday Transport/Colonial Transport #99 both finished their weekends with engine dramas. Hopefully they haven’t received major damage and will see them return in a couple of week’s time for the Firecracker 50 at Manjimup Speedway.
