Another Oldfield Double For Late Models

Cool whether greeted Late Model Crews when they arrived at Albany Speedway Last weekend for the annual king of the ring Pro Dirt Round.

The chance of rain caused the track curators to go easy on the water which resulted in the perfect surface for late model racing - smooth and slick.

The conditions must have suited Jamie Oldfield in his Ultratune #51 Rocket as he dominated the weekend winning both his heats, in the A Dash and was never challenged as well as the 30 lap final.

Incidentally he was clocked by a radar at 159 Kph on Albany's back straight on the way to a heat win.

Heat one saw Warren Oldfield out to an early lead before sibling Jamie pulled an outside pass that the local commentator described as the best move he had ever seen at Atwell Park Speedway.

Warren was not able to return fire and finished second with Matt Nylander in the teams spare beast in third.

Heat two and the O Show Brad Blake found some form in his new ford powered rocket wining easily from the front row over the ever improving Michael Holmes who charged from the rear of the field and Ryan Halliday in 3rd .

Unfortunately Bunbury sensation Jason Moyle retired with engine troubles and didn't return for the rest of the night.

Heat 3 was an all the way first ever heat win for Michael Holmes in the #91 Ozmine entry. He made it look easy winning the race by the length of the straight from Blake and Haliday.

Heat 4 was an awesome display of sibling rivalry between the Oldfield boys with Jamie leading on the high line and warren throwing everything he had at him on the low line but not able to get the job done - third place not too far behind was #34 Matt Nylander.

The A Dash was another Jamie Oldfield white wash wining from Blake, Warren Oldfield, Ryan Halliday and Holmes slipping back to 5th from the front row as the track slicked off.

B dash was won by Mark Duncombe over Cardy and Albany local Wayne Coleman finally getting his swing arm suspension late model Monte Carlo on the pace

Final - Jamie out to early lead over Blake and Warren Oldfield, Mark Duncombe, Ryan Halliday & Michael Holmes dicing with several passes on each other before Duncombe spun on turn 4 in the slick leaving Holmes nowhere to go - Duncombe retired with damage - Holmes returned to 4th at the restart.

later in the race Blake spun - rejoined in 3rd - Holmes spun with a now ill handling car rejoining a lap down.

Gorman and Birt had a spirited battle at the tail swapping positions several time before coming together and causing only the second restart of the final

At the end it was Jamie over Warren Blake & Halliday .
