Quality LMRA Field For Kalgoorlie

It will be a welcome return to the west for a number of the stars from Late Model Racing Australia as they return from the east to once again join the R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series for Saturdays round at Kalgoorlie Speedway.

One who will be excited to be racing will be newly crowned Australian Champion Brad Blake who claimed his fourth national title, cementing his place in history as one of the best sedan peddlers in the country, and the first to win the championship held outside of Western Australia, at the Timmis Speedway in Mildura, Victoria

Blake will be on an absolute high having not just taken out the title as he also won the week before at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway in the Gold Cup driving for east coast car owner Mark Zimmer (Blake returns to his own Blake Auto Centre #0 Rocket for Kalgoorlie).

It’s something that’s not lost on point’s leader Craig Vosbergen, but Vosbergen also recognises that it is something he’s used to racing against Blake for many years and its never easy racing him.

“I’m happy with here we are at the moment, we have been good, consistent and I’m more than happy with the set up and handling on the car at the moment. Hey he’s been good, but it won’t affect where we are at or how we will go about our business on Saturday night.” He said this week.

In the past Kalgoorlie has provided plenty of action packed events and many people still talk about the last time the LMRA graced the confines of the Kalgoorlie circuit. Vosbergen is one that likes the facility and is looking forward to having another run on the ‘Kal Clayway’. “When everything is right it’s a good, racy track, just as long as it doesn’t go dusty and one lane. When it is right it’s been brilliant providing two lanes, plenty of passing and it suits the Late Models. It’s a great facility and the layout and the fans are second to none, so I always enjoy racing up there” he stated.

Blake wont be the only one returning from competing at the recent Australian Title, where Michael Holmes (OzMine Drill Consumables/Holmes & Associates #91 Rocket), Brad Ludlow (DiCandilo Steel City/Lucas Oil Products #92 GRT), Mark Matthews (RACIN Tyres & Accessories/Tilco Engineering #30 Rocket) and B-Main winner Ryan Ludlow in his DiCandilo Steel City/Lucas Oil Products #29 GRT all made the final.

Throw in to this mix not only Vosbergen, but the likes of Jay Cardy who has a brand new powerplant in the BBT Steel/T.L. Dozing #52 Cardy Chassis, one of the form drivers at the moment with two podium finishes in Jamie Oldfield (Ultratune Morley/Carahaul #51 Rocket), the ever consistent Matt Goodlad (Diversified Contracting/JRH Signs #18 Rocket) plus the appearance of Jason Oldfield in the Brian Litchfield owned ex-Jeep Van Wormer car, hopefully the first of many for the new West Australian Street Sedan Champion in the Late Models, and it certainly shapes as one hell of a show.

There will be even more too as nominations come to a close during the week, and with fifteen quality nominations already this one should continue in the vein that the Late Models have all season – fast exciting racing that will have you on the edge of your seat, so get there if you can.
